The Poem Catcher
A poem is a dream caught in language. Anna Marie Sewell has drawn from her Anishnabe heritage and taken the image of the Dream Catcher as a motif for her work as Edmonton’s fourth Poet Laureate. In this course, we will work with the motif of the dream catcher, to learn how the catching of dreams, whatever our culture and tradition, may inspire our writing practice. Cast a web, capture moments, sift them to see what is true, and weave that truth into a poem.
