Diving the Family Treasure Truck
Dive into the family “treasure trunk” and the labyrinth of recollections that constitute the family narrative. The search may give up letters and photographs, bits of clothing or household items, autograph or cookbooks or auto repair manuals. Determine the historiography of the items, their role in the overall narrative of the family, and the memories that are stirred by each item or recollection of event or person. We will focus on: developing an initial narrative structure; research methods; writing exercises specific to family memoir creation; and publication methods and options.
