Advanced HDD Design
Participants with previous knowledge of horizontal directional drilling (HDD) will be provided with in in-depth examination of the key elements of design that must be considered for HDD. The specifics of design, implementation, and risk will be examined in detail, allowing participants to expand their knowledge and understanding of the HDD process. This course will be most beneficial to individuals who have previous experience with HDD.

- Offered in collaboration with the Consortium for Engineered Trenchless Technologies (CETT) and the Faculty of Engineering, University of Alberta.
- Aimed at construction professionals and engineers, as well as managers, project managers, supervisors, and business owners in related areas.
- This course may be eligible to count as CPD hours for membership maintenance with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA).
What you will learn
By the end of this course, you should be able to:
- Identify the specialized requirements within the design of horizontal directional drilling projects.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the risks associated with HDD.
- Understand how to implement an HDD project from inception to completion.
- Identify the requirements of site selection and geotechnical considerations within HDD projects.
This course has no prerequisites
Students from all educational backgrounds welcome. You can register for this course without applying and enrolling in a program.
