Expands on some of the topics introduced in Municipal Law I, and deepens students’ understanding of legal concepts, systems, and practices associated with local authority administration.

What you will learn
By the end of this course, you should be able to:
- Understand the different legal requirements and limitations relating to municipal land use controls.
- Understand the processes relating to access applications and privacy complaints under applicable municipal legislation.
- Assess the ways in which basic contract principles apply to municipal agreements.
- Review the legal requirements applicable to municipal financial planning, taxation, and budget process.
- Compare and review relevant municipal legislation across Canada.
- Have a thorough understanding of the legal context in which a municipal government operates.
Take note:
- Municipal Law I (EXLGP 8202) is a prerequisite for this course.
- All learning materials are provided through eClass.
- This is one of four core courses required for the NACLAA Level II program.
