The essentials of recruitment and selection is the focus of this course. The broad coverage of topics may include: internal and external factors that influence recruitment and selection practices, legislative framework, job analysis and competency models, recruitment sources and attracting job applicants, screening, testing, and interviewing and decision making.

What you will learn
By the end of this course, you should be able to:
- Identify and analyze the internal and external factors that affect recruitment and selection.
- Understand the legislative framework in Canada, key terminology, and how employer requirements have evolved to protect various groups.
- Identify and utilize the appropriate methods for conducting job analysis ensuring that job requirements are legally defensible; optimize the performance of an organization.
- Evaluate job performance and establish a feedback loop with the analysis process to ensure a valid and reliable methodology.
- Identify target applicant pools and utilize appropriate methods to source and attract candidates.
- Understand the various methods for screening, testing, and interviewing and how to choose the most appropriate method to maximize reliability and validity in the selection process.
- Select the right candidate based on output from decision-making tools.
- Engage candidates in a fair and equitable offer and negotiation process.
