Constance McFarland Memorial Art Award
This award was endowed through the estate of Constance Nettleton McFarland a year after her death in 1974. Constance McFarland was a school teacher in Vulcan, Alberta, and was instrumental in the formation of the Art Class and Art Club in Vulcan in 1955. Constance graduated from the Faculty of Arts and Science at the University of Alberta in 1920. She received her early art training at the Art Institute of Chicago, and with community art classes conducted by Dr. Harry Wohlfarth through the (then) Department of Extension at the University of Alberta. Her specialty was portrait painting. Constance remained an active member of the Art Club and Class in Vulcan until her retirement in the late 1960’s.

All students in the U of A Extension Visual Arts (Certificate or Citation) Program.
Criteria
Instructors nominate outstanding Visual Arts (Certificate or Citation) program students for this award based on students’ creativity, skill and craftsmanship, motivation and effort, and community involvement.
